Herndon Fine Art offers authenticated James Rosenquist fine art, including rare hand-signed limited edition lithographs, monumental Pop Art serigraphs, and original graphic works.
Universally celebrated for his monumental scale, fragmented visual collages, and revolutionary adaptation of commercial sign painting, North Dakota-born master James Rosenquist (1933–2017) was a founding titan of the American Pop Art movement. After studying painting at the University of Minnesota, Rosenquist moved to New York City on a scholarship to the Art Students League, supporting himself by painting massive commercial billboards high above Times Square. This formative experience shaped his signature artistic language: juxtaposing disjointed, hyper-scaled imagery from print advertising, consumer products, aerospace technology, and pop culture into complex visual allegories. Alongside contemporaries Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, Rosenquist pushed Pop Art beyond simple product replication, using overlapping grisaille tones, vibrant primary colors, and surreal scale shifts to critique consumerism, media saturation, and Cold War politics. Working across oils, multi-pass lithography, and fine art serigraphy, his prints exhibit extraordinary graphic tension and painterly glaze control. Herndon Fine Art specializes in acquiring and evaluating original James Rosenquist hand-signed limited edition lithographs, multi-panel serigraphs, and rare graphic proofs. Every piece in our gallery inventory undergoes thorough condition inspection to verify paper conservation, multi-pass layer registration, and signature authenticity.
